Alright so most people have been taking the plunge into the new firmware jailbreak and been disappointed to find Cydia and Icy not working..
I had the same problem and spent some time looking around and found out that this is the most effective way to fix it.

    1. Make sure to update to firmware 3.0 and get then jailbreak with redsnow and check for both cydia and icy.
(If your ipod is already jailbroken and running 3.0 you dont have to restore)

    2. After the jailbreak run redsnow again Without restoring and make sure to ONLY check the box for cydia to be installed.

    3. Your problem should be fixed! enjoy using Cydia on the new firmware. Its that simple.

(Only problem I noticed using cydia on 3.0 so far is downloading sbsettings leads to your ipod crashing and making it frozen leading to another restore, but it isn't related to the firmware cause I had that happen to me on 2.2.1 also)

Let me know if it helps.

I haven't had a single problem with Cydia or sbsettings on 3.0 and didn't have any on 2.2.x either.

    Maybe its just 2g users.

Yeah not sure why sbsettings was doing that for me, it really only started after they made the new update a few days ago so maybe thats the reason.
