So Apple is leaving us with the earlier iPod Touch out?
Seriously? Look around. 3.0 work for 1G touches too. It just lacks the bluetooth features.
I updated my firmware to 2.2.1 ($9.95) on my new (to me) 1G late one night this week. The next morning I found that there was a new update. Another $9.95 I guess.
i think he read a little side note on the 3.0 page in itunes, it tricked me at first too. there was an asterisk next to the bluetooth feature and at the bottom of the page it said something like 3.0 only available for 2g ipod touch but it was referring to the bluetooth capability.
No, they are not 'leaving you out' just open iTunes, then click 'check for update'. A dialog box will come up, asking you whether you would like to purchase 3.0. The only thing that you are being 'left out' from is Bluetooth, but that would be your "fault" for buying an iPod with no Bluetooth.
@mbannon: Don't whine about the pricing. There is a piece of legislation (Sarbanes-Oxley) ensuring that Apple charges. It is a legal requirement that they charge iPod touch users for major updates.
Not whining. Just commenting on my poor timing. Please Register or Log in to view images

I understand your feelings mate... Really such bad timing!
So will you be updating your 1G touch to 3.0 now that it's out, even though it's another $9.95 out of the window...
