    THE N00B IS HERE,,
    Hello everyone,

I'll be getting an iPod 32gb 2G Touch on Sat, it's 5 months old and i'm pretty sure it'll be updated with the LATEST firmware.

Whatever the latest firmware is for the 2g ipod, can i still jailbreak it?

The one thing i wanted to ask is, if the ipod that arrives on sat is like firmware 2, if i update it to the latest firmware THEN jail break it, will it keep the firmware or will all jailbreaks reset the firmware to 2.0 or whatever it is,
does that mean i should never firmware update my ipd ever again after the jailbreak>

    thanks

Ive been looking around and not found the answer to my question

2.2.1 is the latest. You can jailbreak 2.2.1. All future firmware are jailbreakable.

the safest way (and the only legal way) to get the 3.o beta is to sign up for the iphone development "club" or whatever they call it. btw, when anyone says iphone on this site, whatever they are talking abut most likely applies to ipod touchs, too. there are somethings that are iphone exclusive, so use discretion. you cna sign up for the team somewhere, but dont install the beta on your device if you get it correctly. it will lock your device, therefore making it unable to downgrade to a previous firmware when you dont like it anymore. and yes, everyone that i know that has put 3.0 on their device has been unhappy w/ it, so dont do it.

    1. u dont "sign up", u pay 99 dollars to get access

    2. you CAN restore to 2.2.1, and you will NOT be locked no matter what, because DFU is a failsafe that lets u downgrade and upgrade from anything to anything else
