firmware or OS??

    i would say os because its more like a real os than the firmware on the other ipods!

    I would say both.

    There is probably an underlying firmware element, that interacts with the core hardware (like EFI). But the main iPhone OS (consisting of Darwin and OS X) would be classified as an operating system.

    Hi Everyone..

    According to me,Fireware is embeded into hardware whereas an OS interacts with the fireware/hardware and displays the results to the user. Fireware can be flashed and is stored in ROM. The OS is stored on the hard drive and can be modified at any time.
