I thought it may be useful to provide the location for firmwares on Windows 7 (and apparantly Vista).
Its a bit different than XP:

    C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates

As pointed out by jfb392, typing "%APPDATA%\Apple Computer\iTunes\" without quotes into the windows explorer toolbar or Run, will find this for any windows installation.

As long as you know where the App Data folder is, you're set on any windows.

The location isn't different, whether you're on XP, Vista, or 7.
Simply type %APPDATA%\Apple Computer\iTunes\ in your Windows Explorer address bar; isn't that a lot prettier than giving one with a variable in it?
That's why environmental variables exist, kids.
