HI I was in the process of syncing ipod touch 1st gen jailbroken (16 gb) 2.1 to 2.2 on my mac, when it crashed. I disconnected the ipod and it is dead. No response whatsoever. I've plugged it in yet nothing - shows no signs of life. It won't power up, screen remains black.

Is there anything I can do? It was purchased last December.

    Thanks for you're help.

I had the exact same problem today but unfortunately despite trying the reset, my Ipod Touch would not come back on. Pressing the buttons did allow an Ipod to be recognized in Itunes, telling me to restore the Ipod, but when I clicked restore it said I did not have the correct software version (I am running the most up-to-date Itunes). Called Apple and after about 35 minutes of troubleshooting the tech recommended I return the item (just got it two weeks ago as a replacment for another new one that came with an inoperative touch screen) for repair/replacment. What the heck is up with the 2.2 upgrade? IPOD updates (I've had a classic for years) should not be fatally crashing these units. Thanks.
