    When was Firmware 2.2 released?


    Firmware 2.2 was released late on November 20th, 2008 (PST).

    Does Firmware 2.2 cost anything?

    No, this update is free as long as you have purchased the Firmware 2.0 update initially.

    Is Firmware 2.2 jailbroken?

    Yes, Firmware 2.2 is jailbroken. You can use PwnageTool or QuickPwn for Mac, and QuickPwn for Windows.

    Is Firmware 2.2 compatible with my device?

    Firmware 2.2 is compatible with 1st-gen iPod touch, 2nd-gen iPod touch, iPhone and iPhone 3G.

    What is new in Firmware 2.2?

    • Improved Maps application:

      Note: All Maps updates have been reported not to be included in the iPod touch versions of Firmware 2.2. This is currently for iPhone users only.
      • Google Street View

    • The headphone jack now supports line-in audio.

    • Safari address bar has changed, separating Google Search to a separate bubble.

    • Turn On/Off the keyboard auto correction/spell check via Settings.

    Sure will. I'm most happy with podcasts on-the-go and Google Street View.

    I would be impressed with the line-in audio support, but it's not 1G iPod touch compatible.
