[Tutorial] Make Alarm app play a song instead of stupid beeps [Tutorial]

    Youtube video:
    Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkPgzUaCm3o
    Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFB2vl4988k&feature=related

    Requirements:

    1. Jailbroken iPod Touch or iPhone
    2. OpenSSH installed
    3. WinSCP or other FTP Client
    4. Internet Connection
    5. Speakers (if iPod Touch)

    Converting the Song:

    1. Download this audio converter: http://www.riverpast.com/en/prod/audioconverter/
    2. In the converter, go to the bottom and there should be an option to convert to wma. Click on the little arrow and it will provide you with a menu. Where it says wma, there should be a drop-down menu. click that and choose AIF.
    3. Go to the top of the screen and click the button that allows you to add a song. Locate your song and click add.
    4. Press Convert.

    Putting into Alarm Clock:

    1. In WinSCP (or other FTP), go to /Library/Alarms
    2. Add converted .aif song to folder.
    3. Rename Alarm1.aif to Alarm1.aif.backup
    4. Rename your song to Alarm1.aif
    5. Refresh or exit out of WinSCP
    6. Launch Clock Application on iPod
    7. Choose Alarm on bottom
    8. Go to Sounds and choose one of the alarms until you hear your song

That's it. Of course you can't make a playlist. This is just a simple little thing that I wouldn't even call a hack.

just fyi for those with an ipod touch 1G, this won't work for you, as the 1G speaker can't produce the sounds necessary to play a song

Umm there are two things wrong with that.
    1. It works when hooked up to speakers which some people have. But thank you because you reminded me I need to add that to the requirements
    2. It wouldn't work with a 2nd generation because there's no jailbreak which means no SSH. Unless I'm wrong and you can SSH an unjailbroken 2nd generation iPod Touch

AAHHH now I really want a 2G jailbreak. That pushed me.

I'm tired of hearing my stupid alarm clock beeping every morning, it drives me crazy!

That'd be pretty sweet with the Night Stand application.
