    Geesh both apps really suck.
    Sound quality is horrible!

Listening to iPod with Equalizer OFF is the best IMO.
    Beats By Dr. Dre ftw

What is your EQ setup? It could always be that.

To each his own. If you're using them correctly, I (and most people who've tried them) think both apps make the iPod sound as good as any DAP/PMP I've ever heard, some people say even as good as a Cowon player which are considered among the best.

And what's the point of bringing up your Beats headphones?

^^Agree completely. If you are using them correctly, they sound fantastic. Definitely a step up in the world.

Equalizer got an update too. The UI is a lot better. I actually prefer it to EQu now because it's easier to use now. Only one problem is keeping me from using it, it won't multitask on my iPod at all. Bummer. Hope they push out an update that will fix it.

Weird, what device are you using? I have a 4G Touch with iOS 4.3 (non-jailbroken) and it runs fairly smooth, with some skips/crashes every now and then when multitasking.

I noticed on EQu's blog they mentioned the stability was addressed with the latest update and actually I'm finding quite stable. I get a few skips and stutters and every once in a while a track will skip to the next track and even stop sometimes.

I find EQu to be a bit more stable on my device, and after messing around with it I'm liking its sound better too. I just wish there was better playlist management because I like to queue up stuff on the fly a lot. It's no biggie to either shuffle all or just play playlists/albums for now though.

Great updates! I'd like to see a revised Fight Review with these, but I realize how much work you've already put into this one.

Hm... Mine doesn't multitask at all. Equalizer quits when I hit the home button :( The UI is more forgiving though this time around, I still hate that they use the 'gear' icon to view EQ presets. I'm most likely going to stick with EQu.

As for updating. Neither app has gotten major updates that fixes their most major flaws. Equalizer has got a better UI, but some things still look out of place. I only do updates if it will greatly increase the score (2+ stars). So this review most likely won't get an update.

Hi there, I am the developer of Equalizer and I tend to stay out of review comments but you are posting about problems multitasking with the latest update of Equalizer so I would like to offer some help as I believe it is an integral part of my app and I had it tested by my beta testers extensively.

There is one time when Equalizer should quit on pressing the home button. That's when you switch from background optimized to non-optimized (or back).
So my suggestion is to set Equalizer to background optimized (in the settings app) and then launch the app. Now multitasking *should* work as advertised.
Can you please confirm if that works? If not, I will have to look into that.

    Thanks,
    Tibor

For me EQu works perfectly, and the latest update is awesome, replaced the iPod music app completly, the downside is that i have to manually look for lyrics and that stuff other apps would do for me...

But again, it´s totally worth it, I have 4 presets, 2 headphones/earphones, Bose IE2 and Shure SRH440 and the built in app will never beat EQu... it even makes crappy Mp3 (any mp3 is crap) sound good enought...
