(Semi) Answer to second question, it shouldn't do.

Answer to your third question, it's shuffle.

On other matters, I used to have that wallpaper

Whats the difference on the repeat button when it has a little 1 under it and when it doesn't.

The little '1' under it means it is repeating that song alone over and over again. The other means it's just repeating the play list/album.

    1. Could be the song itself that is skipping and not the iPod.
    2. No it shouldn’t take any battery up.

EQ does take up some battery but not enough to merit turning it off.
