Apparently some of the more recent MC iTouch 8GBs preloaded with 3.1.3 CANNOT downgrade to 3.1.2 without ECID. I experienced "Error 28" on the iTunes restore.

As a result I'm currently stuck on the 'Connect to iTunes screen'. What is even worse, is that I cannot run TinyUmbrella's TSS server, and it has never ever been able to detect my iPod (even when it was not in 'Connect to iTunes mode'. Upon starting up the TSS server, it displays the following error message:

Is there a way to restore using SHSH that does not involve using TinyUmbrella?

Crap I posted in the wrong forum,.... and I can't delete it... my iTouch is 2gen...

    Put it in DFU.
Then shift+restore and it should work.
iPod Touch 8GB MC/MB do not use SHSH.

I DFU'd it and succesfully restored! I figured that SpyBot Search and Destroy added an extra few lines to my Hosts file.
