well by looks i think im gonna go with the imac. now lets compare price

    XPS: $1099
    what youre paying for:
    intel® Core™2 E8300 (6MB,2.83GHz, 1333FSB)
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium Service Pack 1
    (no monitor)
Single Drive: 16X CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) w/double layer write capability
    2GB2 Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz - 2 DIMMs
    500GB4 - 7200RPM, SATA 3.0Gb/s, 16MB Cache
    ATI Radeon HD3870 512MB2 GDDR4
    Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio

    BUT WAIT! theres more...
youre also paying for the constant repairs of your computer. your crappy little xps is constantly breaking. so by the time youve given up youve spent the price of not one...not even two...maybe not even three... but 4 COMPUTERS!!

oh and you still have to buy that monitor that wasnt included...

grand total for your xps: $5296!! congratulations.

    iMac: $2,199
    what youre paying for:
    3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    2GB memory
    500GB hard drive
    8x double-layer SuperDrive
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS with 512MB memory
oh AND you get free 1 year customer service. BUT WAIT theres more. the customer service actually helps you! they replace the computer for FREE if something goes wrong with it. this iMac would last you at least 5 years.

specs seem the same if not better than the xps.

I've never had to "Fix" my computer. The last time I messed up a PC was when I was 12, and I got my first legitimate one.

If you go on Newegg, you can build a PC almost three times as fast and powerful as the most expensive Mac, and the most it'll cost is under $1,800, with a 20+ inch Monitor included. Nobody buys computers from Dell, unless they buy a crappy $300 one and get parts off of Newegg.

Besides, you're comparing a computer made for gaming, compared to a Mac used for Media Editing, Communications (Web Browsing + Chatting), and Office Work. You could buy a well-rounded PC that does all of that at a price of anywhere between $400-$700. There are more apps and games available for the PC. Also, if I want a "New Computer", all I'd have to do is upgrade my CPU, RAM, and Graphics Card, which will come to $500-600 dollars. Getting a new Mac is obviously upwards of $1,000 dollars. Plus, you have more OS choices on a PC. Macs can boot OS X, and an almost decently stable Windows XP. Modern PC's can run all the Windows OS's, Mac OS 9, Mac OS X, and the many forms of Linux/Ubuntu/Linux Ripoffs. And even then, Linux on a PC is more stable than Mac's Linux.

    If you
    A. Have lots of money to spare
    B. Buy stuff because they "Look Good"
    C. Are a 12 year old girl who wants to use iChat

    Then be my guest.

LOL...another case of someone talking about matters they do not understand. First off, who buys an XPS for anything oither than gaming??!?

Those who understand windows and want a high end PC will not waste their time with an XPS. WE will be looking for Toshiba's and Lenovs's. My 4 year old Toshiba is still working as flawlessly as it did when I took it out of the box.

You know the old saying, you get what you pay for.

When you deal with high end companies, you get a high level of customer service. And all PC's/laptops come with a years warranty.

Perhaps if you did not compare a MAC to an XPS?

For the record, I love MACS, but really have a problem with MAC fan boys who know nothing of what they speak of.

    lol

    macs ARE overpriced. the end.

the design is what costs pretty much. if your in for the package then I can understand. but you can still get a way faster and still good looking pc for less price. you just have to look around a little.

but if i got an imac for free i wouldnt complain. but an imac is pretty useless if i would want to expand and make it better like installing a new graphic card. also, the OS dont really support all the software and hardware that i would like to use, which is kinda crappy.

the ipod touch is the only apple product id go bananas over. and i so LOVE my touch. but i hope apple fix the damn buggy 2.0 firmware or els il kill my damn cat!

Macs are not even overpriced ,
Most windows users buy a computer every year because their computer is so slow , and buggy from all the crappy software window has to use.
