alright so lets say a year from now when i am in afghanistan and i would like to use facetime with friends and family, oh wait i cannot use it..why the f*ck would they make something as neat as this yet limit to where you can only use it over a WiFi connection. i am really hoping there is a way around this, bullsh*t if you ask me.

    Blame AT&T.
Steve Jobs himself even criticized AT&T for not having a network totally capable of handling Facetime.

oh..well hopefully if AT&T upgrades their service it will be capable? plus i read somewhere you can do tethering, and you can use it over 3G..still that is not right, shouldnt have to pay an extra $15 a month for that.

Facetime could possibly work over 3g once the iphone 4 is jailbroken. It'll just take some time before we find out. I would be ok with the charge for tethering if it actually allowed you to use more data... but from what I've seen it's the same amount of data and you're just paying for the ability to tether... which is BS.

Just imagine thousands on iPhone 4 users using facetime all at once. Do you think they can really support that? Yet?

Lol that coming from a person who has a white iPhone 3GS.

Maybe they were planning on using it on 3G later on when AT&T could support it.
