Joe Hewitt, the developer of the Facebook Application for iPhone quit development based on Apple's review policies. The Facebook App has been in the top 10 free apps ever since its existence and its version 3.0 made it even more popular. Version 3.1 was scheduled to come out with Push Notifications.

It's about time people start standing up to Apple.

Facebook, the application, has not been discontinued. In fact, I know facebook have other very talented iPhoneOS developers working for them, including at least one who have done worlds for jailbreak. Note, this is not to say that facebook endorses jailbreaking. It is that reason that I won't disclose this developer's name.

I actually like this a lot. I don't like the way Hewitt makes apps. He codes applications like they are web dodoads. He overly complicates things, such as TTStyleSheets, or whatever it is he uses. Which is completely understandable considering his background (look him up). On the other hand, he has done a lot with the device, including quick scrolling tables.

Joe Hewitt leaving is not a bad thing. Nor is it a good thing. It's just a thing.

Maybe that means we'll see more updates for the application if other people are coding for it.
