This is a discussion thread for the "Facebook Again Rumored to be Working on Smartphone with HTC" story posted on the front page.
Why would anyone want a fb phone, when you can just get a Android or iPhone and install a fb app. Also, didn't MySpace have a phone once? It was called hello or helios. Something like that
I can't imagine this NOT using Android in some form. Are we seriously thinking that they're going to create a new OS for this from scratch? It would be a mess for cross-platform developers who already have iOS, Android, and Windows Phone to worry about. They would have to design for this platform specifically, and it would have no point. Not to mention the vast majority of "apps" for this phone would merely be web apps, because that's what the Facebook website itself runs. I'm sure this will just be modified Android with a Facebook "layer"/advanced social networking features on top of it. It works out better and creates less headaches for everyone that way.
