That's right, after months of the new Facebook 3.0 app being "98% complete", Joe Hewitt has finally submitted the app to the app store.

The update promises support for a number of much-requested features, such as:

    • The “new” News Feed
    • The ability to "Like" an item
    • Events (including the ability to respond)
    • Notes and Pages
    • The ability to create new photo albums and upload photos to any album
    • Zooming into photos and easier photo tagging
    • A new home screen for easy access to all your stuff, search, and notifications
    • Add your favorite profiles and pages to the home screen
    • Notifications that link to the comments so you can reply faster
    • Quickly call or text people right from the Friends page
    • Messages you are typing will be restored if you quit or are interrupted by a phone call

Push Notifications are not going to feature, but are set to debut in version 3.1.

Here's hoping that die belonging to the reviewer at apple doesn't land on "deny from app store for no reason".
