Is there a way to extract the sms.db (all my SMS) from the iOS 4.0.1 backups on my Windows 7 computer?

I think it works for SMS too, I've only used it for pictures. You can try iBackupBot for iTunes.

You would need to know the EXACT files that you need. Really a pain tbh. I tried it till i gave up and just did the jailbreak method.

We provide a tool called the iPhone Backup Extractor which can help you extract the files. It works on Windows, Mac or Linux.
