I have a problem. When I connect an external microphone, speaker does not work on iPod. Not any applications (add-on) who would turn on microphone and speaker too. For skpye when there is someone calling to activate the loudspeaker. Sorry for my English.

Why would you buy an external mic without a headset attached? Because when the mic is plugged in, the speaker shuts off, because the iPod thinks you have a headset plugged in.

You should've gotten a headset instead, those little mic things are more for things like the iPod nano and classic.

I have the exact same problem, only got the external mic because it was cheap. Basically pointless because I need audio for some of the apps I use it for.

I need to get the speakers working with them, anyone got any solutions?

I wouldn't recommend this but the way the ipod knows if there is something plugged in is the very tip of the jack. I had a wire where the tip was cut off and it played both from the internal speaker and headphones. I don't know if it's the same for a microphone.
