Looking for an external (secondary) battery pack for a 1st gen ipod Touch.

The Mophie JuicePak is almost what I want (allows piggyback charging etc) but I don't understand why it uses a mini-usb connector (see 5th photo on mophie website) rather than the standard iPod dock connector?

If it used the latter you could use the standard apple supplied usb->dock cable to charge it (and also if you wanted, to just charge the ipod). I'm not really into things that require a dedicated cable (even though usb->u-usb is somewhat of a standard) unless there is a good reason?

Is there anything else out there?

Also, if you have a skin on the Touch, will it fit into the JuicePak?

    Nice referral link.

Be careful about what you buy from DX. Shipping/quality is a hassle.

    Hmmn.

Looks like it will work but I'm very skeptical on the non-name stuff. I'd rather spend a bit more for something where I know who's making it.

Also, does it use the std ipod cable? I can't tell from the pic if the female connector on it is the std ipod?

I'd prefer a battery which is a "case" like the Mophie. I see a few at the dealextreme site but none specifically state compatible with Touch 1st Gen. They all seem to be for iPhones. Not sure if 2nd Gen iPhone is same as 1st gen Touch?
