This forum is really big on not doing illegal stuff such as downloading illegal programs for free, etc. So how exactly is jailbreaking a device not illegal. When you bought the device it was not JB, but you have to actually JB it. This allows you to do things that you could not do when you bought it.

So clear some things up how is JB not illegal if you are having to I guess add stuff or find the holes in the ios os.

    Thanks.

Because Jailbreak is not illegal ! It's your device, you paid for it so it's your choice to do whatever you want to do with it !

Because a U.S. court said so.

When you buy a device its yours, you can do anything you want with it. Its like a knife, is that illegal? No, but it can be if you stab someone, just like stealing apps. Apple tried to make it illegal in U.S. Court but failed miserably.

Sorta like total gun control, but for knives. Failed miserably when its implementation was attempted.

    Also, awesome analogy.

When you buy a DS, you use cartridges to modify it so you can do things you "could not do when you bought it".

When you buy a computer, you use applications to modify it so you can do things you "could not do when you bought it".

When you buy a car, you use air fresheners to modify it so you can do things you "could not do when you bought it".

When you buy a steak, you use a grill to modify it so you can do things you "could not do when you bought it". (like eat it)

When you buy an iDevice, you use jailbreaking to modify it so you can do things you "could not do when you bought it".

    It's simple really.
