I wrote an article about the new system that was going to be revealed on MTV not too long ago, a few hours ago actually, and well the wait is over.

Many people guessed it was a Apple device, that was...wrong!

    What was it then?

It was in fact the 'Jungle' which is a new online gaming device from Panasonic.
Crazy? Yeah tell me about it.

    This is it!

Its the first portable gaming console that is designed from the ground up to be used for online gaming and MMORPG'S (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing games, for you and me). And its from the same people whom gave us the 3DO 20 years ago.

"The PSP and DS can do online", I can hear you all saying, but they aren't made from the get go to be online consoles. The Jungle on the other hand is more like a tiny PC, with a full QWERTY keyboard and a touch-pad as well as a D-Pad and shoulder buttons.

I know your all thinking "Is that it?"

Well let me spell it out for you guys. This is the first time MMORPG addicts will be able to leave there apartments and see the sun while playing and leveling up there wizards. Bamm! Take that, PC!

    Take that PC!

The jungle shares styling cues from the GBA, but a bit more hefty and rugged, in case you drop it.

"The screen is bananas. everyone was freaking out about it" said a few people who played it.

The specs are still unknown, but the guts have to be good to be able to push out the kinda graphics that it does and also push out video via its built in HDMI port that its rumored to have, not confirmed. Hopefully it should have 3G to boast as well, since its a online console for on the go gaming.

Also unconfirmed, word on the street is it runs Linux OS, which would make gaming a little tricky indeed. You couldn't just boot up World Of Warcraft on that thing if its the case, but maybe ports are at hand here folks. Or it could run games in a browser?

The screen is said to be high definition and I suspect that the console will be pretty pricey, like $400 pricey. It should however be around $200 if it expects to sell well, or any for that matter.

You have to hand it to Panasonic tho, its pretty impressive of them to jump in the gaming bandwagon after it's departure years ago. In a time where phones are taking over the gaming market (by share, not in quality) its pretty brave move by Panasonic to do so.

The Jungle is being designed by Panasonic Cloud Entertainment, a smallish start up company.

Personally, Team fortress 2 on this bad boy would rock while sitting in the park.

So there you go, Panasonic has entered the online gaming market.

I'l bring more coverage on all things gaming, as always

    Neat.

I don't play much of those.

Yeah lol, its kinda of a shock in a way, I'm so used to seeing Nintendo, Microsoft or Sony affiliated with consoles and seeing Panasonic just sounds awesome.

    The more the merrier.

Its not a failure, it isn't even being sold yet?

What if they said "Were giving them for free!"

    What would you say then?

    Still a failure?

Your iPhone is a expensive failure :/
