My jailbroken iPod Touch 1G has an excessively long boot time - like maybe 5 minutes or so.

Does anyone have any ideas what might be affecting this, or how to speed up the process, or any ideas how to find out what exactly is causing it to boot up so slowly? It is actually not mine, it is one I am giving my daughter for xmas so I would like to figure it out before I give it to her.

Uninstall winterboard, and anything else that uses dylibs. Those are injected into springboard when the iPod boots up, causing longer loading times.

Who Jailbroke it? I suggest to give it to her not Jailbroken. Because this won't be the only problem later on. It could freeze or not sync songs oh got terrible, terrible.

But as the post above mentioned just restore and re-hack.
