I have read everything. I have tried multiple guieds. I have attempted using different computers. Im on an Intel Pentium celeron 86x Processor with windows XP home edition.

My iPod is a 2nd gen 2.2.1. Everything works great up to the part at which i have to recover the iPod firmware in iTunes using the custom one generated by XPwn. Each time i get some error: 1604 1601 2005... The iPod "iPod" could not be restored. And unknown error occured.

Everything is in DFU mode, i know how to do that. I've tried many times. What is strange is that on my laptop i cannot even recover to my 2.2.1 firmware, as i get the same error. On my desktop computer i can recover to 2.2.1 but cannot recover the Custom.

Either way i'm just trying to get it to work. Any help?

To be sure, im requesting the MD5 checksum of both ipsw files. (2.1.1 & 2.2.1) to assure that im using the correct, un-corrupted ones.

    My checksums:

    iPod2,1_2.1.1_5F138_Restore.ipsw
    A45CDD3510F0569B5C3C78A5CC86BAEA

    iPod2,1_2.2.1_5H11a_Restore.ipsw
    5AA6A55F9D9DCC195C3E99E49AC6CD08

If you jailbroke your itouch, and still have the ipsw files help me out. I'm out of ideas.

    Same as mine.

I guess the problem isn't in the files.

Heh. I discovered its actually an issue with a few download managers messing the file up due to pauses when downloading. If your internet connection is as sh*te as mine is, you are better of avoiding a download manager or doing the download in one straight shot
