I used WinPWN to make a custom update out of 2.0.1, and I'm pretty sure I "pwned my iTunes" but when I try to update my iPod, it gives me the error "The iPod "iPod" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (6).". Why is that?

Also, is it possible that if I see the plug to iTunes picture on my iPod touch that I'm still in DFU mode? Or did I accidentally get myself stuck in recovery mode. If so, then how do I get out? I seem to be stuck in it...

You're probably not in true DFU mode. There's a bunch of guides to be found, incl. Youtube. It took my like 10 tries to get it right.

When updating my GF's touch I was getting those errors left and right - downgraded, upgraded, pwn'ed, all that BS gave me the same error - then I found out i wasnt in DFU mode.

So make sure you are in DFU - http://iphonefreakz.com/beginners-guide/howto-dfu-mode/

when exactly do you get the error? when it says preparing iphone/touch? does your screen go white? or is it half way through when its actually restoring?
