    Are you using redTool?

    Oh, I'm not sure.
Try out redTool and see if you still have a problem with the firmware.

Use redTool and create a NOR-Only IPSW. Easy as my sister (not really)

im reading the instructions on the redtool install but im confused. run ipsw? whats that? i already have the 2.2.1 downloaded.

this kind of stuff id beyond me, so i need an easy way to do it. and the quickfreedom was pretty easy except for the stupid error.

Download and run redTool 1.01, and click the NOR option. and click begin process.
Locate your IPSW and select custom logo, then click make the IPSW. IT makes it, pre-boots it, and tells you to restore in iTunes.

Does this have to be done with the ipod in DFU mode? I've tried quickfreedom but it doesn't seem to be working for me because it's saying my firmware isn't the original...so i might give redsnow a try.

what are the cons to jailbreaking? other than void warranty. i heard it would allow me to not be able to update my ipod.

and say i was successful at jailbreaking it, is there a way to unjailbreak it? like put it back to normal so no one would be able to tell i had messed with it?

Just DFU Restore to the original 2.2.1 iPod.
