Does anyone know how I can get around this? I'm trying to upgrade to 2.0 but everytime I try is says that it can't back the ipod up and if I continue I'll lose everything on it. Why can't Apple ever release an update that doesn't mess up your entire ipod.

    OK, don't panic...
First, is your ipod touch 1g or 2g? (for my survey)

Ok go into iTunes and click on file, and click on transfer purchases from "(name of ipod)"

That should save anything that was bought on the ipod touch, like apps, songs, and videos, if you didn't buy stuff on the ipod touch, then that means its somewhere on your computer unless you deleted it.
Sadly, you will lose all of your contacts, etc.
now restore without backing up and sync all of your itunes documents, videos, songs, apps, etc.

If anything else goes wrong, email me at Coomcman2@gmail.com
    Peace
