My Touch died after I leaving it conneted to my laptop for a whole night to charge.
I tried to restore it numerous times on different pcs, uninstalling and reinstalling itunes, but no luck with " error 1604".

I googled and tried most of solutions suggested, so I guess mine is possibably due to hardware failure. Could over-charging somehow burned cerntain part?

I bought this unit via Apple Online Store. All I want to ask is if I take it to an Apple Store, will those*Genius* es help me? I am not going to call the Apple Support, because I am not good with phone---English is not my mother tongue. BTW, I never hack it, and I live in Canada, so it is not as convenient as in states to visist an Apple Store. Wish I could save a visit

If you bought AppleCare with your iPod then you can just send it back to them for another.

But depending on what time you bought it, phone support may be your only option.

You can try force restoring on your iPod (search forums) or restore on your iPod in
Settings --> General --> Reset --> Erase all content and Settings
