Sn0wbreeze is not the best jailbreak tool. With iREB, I solved my 1604 issue, but now I am getting Error 40! I'll keep trying, but I am going to wait for redsn0w if this fails. I need help!

Try making a new .ipsw with Sn0wbreeze, when it asks you if you're jailbroken you press no and follow the instructions, after that iReb will launch and then you can install the .ipsw to your ipod. I had the same problem but now it's jailbroken (finally)

I was getting the same error. I have an MB 2G iPod.. I found this thread by jcheng that really helped me out:
    http://www.ifans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=313323

But let me save you the trouble of clicking that:

I believe it was the custom boot logos that were causing the problems, but I'd follow those steps closely if I were you. Remember that if you have an MC model, you need to be on 3.1.2 according to the guide....

I followed that guide. I may have missed a step though, I'll try one more time...

Yeah, I have 2.0.2 but I still get 'Error 40'. I don't suppose anyone has a solution. I don't have a custom boot screen, not even the Sn0wbreeze one. Can anyone help? I would like to be able to restore with this rather than restoring back to boring, old, unedited Apple iOS 4.1

Next time I'd look up on how to jailbreak with the tool first, You're supposed to use iREB to put your device in a pwned state, and THEN use iTunes to restore the custom firmware..

But nvm if you got it fixed. ^^.

Well I did look up how to jailbreak with Sn0wbreeze 2.0.2 before hand and I did use iREB to put my iPod in a pwnd state but I still got 'Error 40'. Sorry If I didn't make it clear in my first post.
