Schmidt: “Apple should have kept our maps.”
Mossberg: But Apple says you didn’t give them all the features they wanted.
Schmidt: “Apple decided a long time ago to do their own maps … [now they've] discovered that maps are really hard.”
Swisher: What argument could you make to Apple to keep your maps?
    Schmidt: They’re better maps.

What's with the random quotation marks around some things that were said?

That's a really lame argument. Apple should have kept our maps. Implying they were better than Apple's maps in his first statement. Then he basically repeats the intention of what he first said by saying they are better. How about more accurate and more useful?? He can't just say they are better, he has to give reasons why.

He's using ethos and not using any logos there.
It's like saying "You're wrong, and I'm right."
There is no ownage in there. Because it lacks logic.
