    Settings -> Music -> EQ

    Generally which EQ setting do you like the most when listening to your music?

    My preference atm is Hip Hop (using Shure SE210 earphones)

    None. It uses a lot of battery I heard.

    I find Acoustic to be the loudest and clearest.

    All I can say to that is don't believe everything you hear, especially if you're hearing it from a public forum.

    The EQ process is hardly a taxing one for even your run-of-the-mill players these days, so it'll be downright trivial for an iPod Touch 3G. It's bound to use some extra battery, but we're talking 1-2% tops. Personally I'm all about quality over quantity, so would never turn EQ off just to push a couple extra song out of my player.

    TBH if battery life is so important to some people, using a Touch isn't exactly optimal to their needs in the first place. These devices aren't about endurance, they're about power/capability. Bottom line is, if you're using a Touch you might as well get used to the fact that the battery isn't going to last peticularly long, no matter what you turn off.

    Even if that's the case, I will stick with me eq off so I can save that 1-2% battery.

    Off, because the gimmicky EQ curves in iTunes/iPod are for people with crap headphones or have no idea what they're doing.
