I can in fact open a firmware choosing dialogue when I shift+click the update button in iTunes.

What happens if I perform the pre-jailbreak procedure and then instead of restoring, simply start back up (should work) and update? Would I lose my stuff?

    Please provide input!

    Thanks

Well, if you did that it would simply restore to the original firmware...

If you did that, the firmware never actually got on, because the Pre-Jailbreak procedure, allows the use of custom firmwares. If you don't use it, you no can haz jailbreak

It will boot up, and you have the same as you did before. No jailbreak, no nothing.
