I was just wondering if the new processor in the iPod Touch 2G opens up the possibility of new/more powerful emulators being ported. What do you guys think?

Well, there's no way to even jailbreak it yet (since it's not compatible with the PwnageTool exploit), so I think we're getting ahead of ourselves by anticipating emulator speeds. However, I suppose they may run a bit faster. Nothing major though.

Not Jailbroken yet and thinkin of emulators LMAO, people are prceless!

You notice how apple keeps updating there firmware more and more?

That makes hackers have to develop new jailbreaks each time.

So they fall behind on things like the psx4all emulator, after a while.

try to support native game development, note that Apple trying to make iPod touch an gaming machine, just see iPoT 2G Ad and you note that they showing mostly a games then multimedia player functions itself.
You want games from emulator? then by Nintendo DS then lol, you gonna have more fun by this then using emulator.

I love it how people try to push down others, but they're wrong.

New iPods can still be downgraded to 2.0.2 and then just Pwn or whatever that way. So, as stated, you should research or test for yourself before you make head steady comments like that.

I dont think theyre trying to pass it off as a gaming device. Theyre just advertising for the app store and ipod touch at the same time. I did like the ad though

I am well aware of the jailbreaking issues with the new ipod touch. I was just curious of its possible emulation capabilities because once/if this thing is hacked, emulators are sure to follow. After learning of a more powerful processor, I wondered if it could handle a heavier level of gaming than the previous iTouch, seeing as Apple wants to promote it partially as a gaming device. As far as the DS goes, I have one, but I just can't pump enough memory into it to handle a decent load of movies as well as games. Unless there is another device out there that can do this, the iPod touch is the way to go i guess.
