I read from the web that the mail client on iPhone/iPod touch doesn't encrypt the username+password for Yahoo push email accounts (even if SSL is enabled). Do Gmail (IMAP) accounts suffer from the same problem? I want to be sure that everything from username/password to the content of the emails are encrypted.

Assuming Gmail accounts don't have the same problem as Yahoo push emails, is it safe to say that my username/password/emails cannot be sniffed even at public/open wifi hotspots (with SSL enabled of course)?

    Thanks a bunch!

    Security concerns

I must say im quite conserned with the use of my ipod touch on public networks.
If someone could port a application like MyEntunnel or plink it would be great, then it would be possible to use it as a privat vpn.

Iknow theres a vpn feature in the touch but does this tunnel ALL trafic ?
