    hey everyone!

i just got a brand new 42-weeker iPod touch yesterday. i got it plugged in to my laptop and tried to pick it up, but i think i got a little jolt! my fingers weren't wet at that time. it was just a prickly sensation, but i'm worried!

i plugged it into my desktop as well, and got the same problem! should i hand it in to ask for a new one, or is this problem experienced by all? i haven't got any film lining over the metallic back, if that's an issue..

    advice please fellas?

A good rule to live by is if it shocks you, get the hell away from it

Return it, and get another one.

    was it serious?

i get a small buzzing prickling sensasion too sometimes.
anyway you shoud give a notice to the store, just in case.....
so it is easier regarding warranty issues if something happens

I didn't check, but maybe the case of the iPod is grounded, in which case you simply have discharged yourself through the iPod and USB cable (I guess your laptop wasn't on battery but connected to the power unit). No worries

If that's simply that, it's not a defect, but be careful to discharge yourself somewhere else than on the poor thing

It's quite common in winter, the air is dry and you wear more clothes, it's prone to increased static electricity.
