I got iLiberty and went to install OpenSSH because i tried to install it via installer and even after installing it 3 times (3 installations of it on there at the same time) it would not show up. no matter how many times i rebooted or resrung.

About 30 seconds into it supposedly putting openssh onto the touch, i noticed it was just repeating:
    BSD root: md0, major 2, minor 0
over and over and over. would not stop. so i tried rebooting the ipod. tried unplugging and plugging it in. it shows text on the ipod that it is acknowledging that it is being plugged in and unplugged. but does nothing more.

every time i reboot it (home+sleep button until it shuts off. then sleep button until the apple logo) it just starts up the text once again and then starts that loop of what i typed above.

is there any way out of this?

it will be recognized in revoery mode

And don't listen that that restore nonsense. You can kick it into Normal Mode without a restore!

ziPhone has a feature that puts it back in normal mode. It´s under advanced. Not sure if it works with the bsd, but it does if you accidentally enter recovery mode.
