This is a discussion thread for the "EE Launches the UK's First LTE Network" story posted on the front page.
I'm on Orange with a 64GB iPhone 5, and £36 a month gets me 1GB of data (as well as unlimited calls and texts). 3G seems perfectly good to me at the moment (got WiFi at work and at home) so I don't think I'll jump to LTE just yet.
f***ing hell! That's rediculous prices! £35 a month gets you an iPhone 5, and unlimited data on three!!!
That's ridiculous. No thanks EE. I hate how the UK is so far behind other countries when it comes to fast broadband and faster networks
Most 3G networks here in the US are useless. Verizon and Sprint have THEORETICAL maxes of 3.1Mbps. And they rarely reach that. Verizon's 3G is going outdated, and getting overloaded. Sprint's is overloaded. Average speeds on VZW/Sprint? 300kbps. Sprint customers not in a Network Vision area (Network Vision is sprints plan to deploy LTE and enhanced 3G) are used to 50kbps speeds. AT&T could have a good network. But they aren't investing any money into maintaining it. Because of that, their theoretical max speeds of 14.4 (HSPA+) actually only get 2-3Mbps. So be happy you have working networks over there. Sure, maybe they aren't LTE, but they work and come at a price that is not completely crazy.
Your broadband is probably better though. We are getting 5kbps on sky broadband unlimited. There is also minimal fibre optic broadband in the UK. We are playing catch up.
