If you haven't noticed this forum, for lack of better word, screws up the linking when linking to an eBay auction.

If a user posts the link to an eBay auction the link will normally (and should) look like this: (I will use nclaxmiddy11's Nintendo Wii auction as an example because it was the first one I found)
    Code:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200242121987
That link will successfully get you to the auction.

But for some reason this forum's link authorization page screws up the link and makes it look like this:
    Code:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&[SIZE="3"][B]amp;[/B][/SIZE]item=200242121987
Note the added "amp;". This makes the it appear as if the auction is invalid.

It would seem that every time there is an ampersand (&) in the link it inserts "amp;" after that ampersand. Thus messing up the link.

This has been quite a problem in the Marketplace when people post links to their auctions and people are unable to get to them.

EDIT: Here try it for yourself:

Here's the link if it were to be posted normally: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200242121987

    Doesn't work, right?

Well here's a link the re-routes you to that same link: http://snipurl.com/35u9b

    Works.

Yeah it is irritating me as well, and I'm sure others too.

Hope you don't mind me using your auction as an example.

it took a while to track down the bug, but it had to do with the redirection javascript code. so when i was debugging i was puzzled why sometimes it was happening and sometimes not, but it turns out it was because sometimes i was clickling and sometimes i was waiting for the redirect. it should now work in both cases.
