Since more and more "o no I bricked my touch" threads keep showing up I decided to post this.

The easiest way to DFU is by turning your iPod off. Next hold you home button and plug it into iTunes. It is real simple and impossible to mess up unlike the other methods.

This as solved every problem I've ever had on all 3 of my Touches.

    Isn't that just restore mode?

That is restore mode, not device firmware upgrade mode. And yes, that will fix most iPod touch issues.

Well, if it's restore mode, it's not exactly DFU, is it now?

Restore mode has saved my butt quite a few times.
