    Hey guys.

Anyway i am building a new computer and just cant decide to go with one processor.

I am debating between the E8500 [link] and the Q6600 [link] since they are about the same price.

Anyway I plan to OC either one of them. Mostly what I do is do some gaming (I am looking into running the newest games, crysis, far cry 2, fallout 3) and web browsing.

So any Ideas? Perhaps maybe some other processors I should be aware of?

Also will the Q6600 run with a GTX 260 core 216 on a 700W power supply? Thanks guys

Crysis is one of the only games that are Quad Core friendly. Most others are Dual core friendly. So its up to you. Future proof + Media encoding with Quad Core and pray that developers update their games to be friendly with more and more cores. Or stay on Dual Core.

Isn't crysis only dual core optimized?

It was either Crysis or it's sequel or both. I know one of them is optimized for Quad cores.

The power supply should hold out.

Now the problem with that quad core is, its still a 65nm tech. And being a quat core that thing will run hot, especially if you OC it.

I have an E8400 and love it, i would personally choose the E8400

Hey guys what about the Phenom II X4 940 CPU? That seems really nice.

Also, which do you recommend? The Q6600 and E8500 are at the top of the top sellers for new egg, but what else it out there?

Most games today are only dual core optimized so i would go for a faster dual core (and i am as a matter of fact

). It would take a while for games to transition to quad core and then you can just get a new processor since both are LGA 775. Also don't get a AMD processor. They may look nice but everyone agrees that Intel is the best.
