Does E-mail on the iPhone require a data plan to work? Because I'm thinking of selling my ipod touch on eBay and try to get an iPhone. I just wanted to know that before I do anything major.

    Thanks.

I think you'd need to pay for the EDGE network to use e-mail anywhere, but you can also just use regular WiFi for free.

You can take a picture and immediately send it to an email.

I read that you can't send MMS messages, you think that can be easily changed by another firmware that apple could release or would it have to come with iPhone 2.0?

    Thanks.

You have no choice but to get the data plan for the iPhone. It is pretty much useless without it. Also, Apple probably won't come out with a MMS app because they know AT&T's internet sucks and they wont want it to take forever on their network.

MMS has been around for a while now. It could run on the iPhone, EDGE won't slow it down. I used to sends/receive MMS on my GPRS(VERY slow) phone and it was pretty snappy.

Anyways, you can get MMS from other people if they send it to your email instead of your number. AND you can send MMS from your email to a AT&T user:
    theirnumber@mms.att.net

Just go to the picture in your photos and press "Email Photo"
and send it using the format above(ex 17025555555@mms.att.net).
