    Hey everyone

i got HEAPS of dust stuck under the screen.

i went to the apple store, they told me to FO kindly because it is classed as "user damage".

i was wondering if this is covered under warranty and who to contact? i desperately want to get rid of the dust under the screen...

If someone can point me in the right direction, thanks.

Obviously it isn't covered under warranty if the apple store told you to FO ;D - but I'm sure your local mobile repair shop (who most likely also repair ipods, psp's etc - will perhaps be able to fix it. Otherwise, try searching online.

    Hope this helps

hmm, i read through a lot of other old threads. quite a fair few people got theirs replaced by warranty. i think the guy was rude as he started by saying "is it a good question and not going to waste your time and my time".

i'll look around and see how it goes..

I'd call apple. Bump going to the apple store. Some of those people think they're the shiznit just because they work there. Making is tech geeks look bad.

Apple's site is majorly confusing as the support section seems to lead me in circles and only ever refers me to go to "your nearest apple store".

If your iPod is still under warranty, they should replace the screen at the very least. I had my old iPhone 3GS screen replaced twice because of dust (although I did purchase the AppleCare plan).

apple care... unfortunately i didnt purchase it.

it's been driving me nuts, i've looked at removing the screen and cleaning it out myself... but then again probably not the best option.

You should have a year of AppleCare, that's limited warranty, if you're still under warranty, you can still purchase it and activate under your serial number.

Either way, take it back to the store, and ask again.
    Good luck.

How long did you have the ipod before it started collecting dust?

Try looking at computer/electronic stores at your area.
Some stores do this service for less than $50 just to clean out the screen.
