I converted some of my DVD's using the "PSP" profile on Avidemux (GTK+).

I SSHed them to the appropriate directory and opened dTunes but it only plays the audio and just has a black screen.

I thought I encoded it wrong so I synced it using iTunes and it worked

Please don't tell me I have to use iTunes?

    Thanks

Well, if you don't want to use itunes, then just find the ipod videos folder while ssh-ing. I don't see why you won't use iTunes, as it doesn't require SSH-ing and this alone would seem to be faster. Maybe it is the encoding, but i doubt it as all my old psp converted videos work great, in fact, better than regular mp4's. You could also try reinstalling dtunes. My advice is this: Skip the hard stuff and just use iTunes. You really don't need to have your videos in dtunes anyway.

Only reason I can think of you not wanting it to show up in Video.app is.. pr0n? Try playing it with Discover. You don't have to use SSH to transfer it, you can use DiskAid.

I think you have tv out enabled in dTunes. Go to settings and turn off TV Video Out.
    Hope that helps

Do you know the path for this? I don't/cant use iTunes as I'm a Linux fan and Apple hasn't been bothered to create a Linux port for iTunes.

    Um NO! Lol.

    All ready was.
