I checked, and I didn't see one of these already, so here goes...

Discuss the many different mods and hacks that can be done to the Nintendo DS through the use of Slot-1 Flash Carts and Slot-2 GBA Loaders. Dscuss different programs like the LMP-ng, Moonshell, Super Smash Bros. Clash, and more.

I have one question for anyone who chances upon this thread. There is an app called X-Soft, just Google "X Soft DS", that is very cool. Only problem: It's in Spanish. If there are any willing DS developers, or people who can contact the original dev, an English port of this would be cool.

    Well, discuss away.

Never explored DS mods and hacks...

only the PSP and iPhone ever seemed to be worth hacking...

a hacked PSP is truly incredible

I believe you use something called a "flashcart" or "R/D4" to hack a DS. I'm interested as usual, but my DS has long since met its' day

There are two ways to "hack" a DS.
    HARD:
Actually involves hacking, and is technically illegal. You flash the DS's files to allow a Slot-2 (GBA) Device access to the DS to run homebrew.

    EASY:
Not illegal. Copy files onto a MicroSD card, plug it into your flashcart, slip that in your DS, done. Totally self contained.

EDIT: And it is DEFINITELY worth it. Music playing, homebrew, you can store multiple games (that you already own) on it, even.

Anyone know a public retailer that sells these "R4"'s and "flashcarts"

I'd kill for the original Chrono on my DS...

From what I hear, R4 is the worst flashcart.

My brother got a DSi for his birthday. Will an acecard 2i work alright for music and backup game playing purposes?

R4 is fine. Don't believe everything you hear. The only problem is it isn't DSi compatible.
@bigcj55: try reinstalling the newest kernel from r4ds.cn
    @mmitt: Absolutely.
