SEGA have announced that it will begin to re-releasing original Dreamcast titles on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network later this year.

Sonic Adventure and Crazy Taxi will be the first two titles of many that will be made available for download, with Sonic releasing first this fall. All Dreamcast games will include enhanced "high resolution visuals," surround sound, online leader boards, and trophies and achievements.

"The Dreamcast is fondly remembered by a large community of dedicated fans as a console that was ahead of its time in terms of graphics, quality and online gaming," said Haruki Satomi, VP of Digital Business at SEGA of America and SEGA Europe.

"There are few things that are more requested from us than making Dreamcast classics available for download in today's digital market place. We're very excited to begin offering gamers our beloved Dreamcast titles again on the current console systems."

Both Crazy Taxi and Sonic Adventure will be on display at SEGA's booth next week at E3.

No, it was released after the PS1 but before the PS2. It's usually grouped with the PS2/GCN/Xbox as far as consoles go.

Sega's entry in the PS1 era was the Sega Saturn.

That being said, YES YES YES YES YES. I love my Dreamcast, hopefully the 360 will be able to scale Dreamcast games to my TV well. The best thing about the Dreamcast? You could burn games to CD-Rs and the early models would play them without any modification.

It came out on 9/9/99 if I'm correct? And was miles ahead of it time, graphics were below PS2, but not by much. We didn't see much of it.

First console ever to have online capabilities. Way ahead of its time, but the PS2 hype was unbearable for sega's last hope.

The graphics were pretty typical of those found on the PS2. Not PS2 at it's best, but comparable. Regardless, it seems they're releasing them in HD so they should look much better anyway.

I know it was released after the PS1 (years later actually 1999 and PS1 1994), but I thought that means it automatically competed with the PS1?
