This is a discussion thread for the "Draw Something is a Flop at Zynga's Expense" story posted on the front page.
I remember when it first came out. Everybody was playing it. Now nobody even cares about it. I actually don't see anybody playing Zynga's games that much now.
trend's a b*tch....they missed out on the meaning of "flash in a pan"....we are a finicky, fast paced consumerist.
To put Zynga's purchase into perspective: Rovio made $100 million in sales from Angry Birds games in 2011. I think Zynga grossly overestimated Draw Something's potential to be the next Angry Birds by buying it for over $200 million.
I dislike Zynga so much that I got rid of the app when they bought it. I was perfectly aware that the app basically didn't change at all, I just have that little respect for Zynga.
Users that play Draw Something these days are few and far between. I recently downloaded it again (because it was on sale), and none of my friends still play it.
I still play it and find it interesting...but that's probably because it's creative/sparks me to get creative when the word I have to draw appears.
Zynga gets no sympathy from me. They basically started out as scammers (and admitted it) and they seem only marginally better now.
