So I updated to iTunes 8.1.1 and it said that it can't read my iPod's contents so It wants me to restore.

I have a jailbroken iPod Touch 2G and it is not in DFU or recovery mode.

How do I get iTunes to read my iPod's contents? Before I downloaded the update, iTunes could read my iPod. Any help?

I tried that, but it said that a "A library has been created with the latest version of iTunes." So I can't use an older version.

Hmmm I still cant be persuaded that jailbreaking in certain circumstances is a plus !

I had this prob too. What I found helped me was to go to /var/mobile/Library/Media and delete the iTunes_control folder. iTunes will see this as a new ipod/iphone and you can just restore from your backup
