So I've been thinking about this. Do you remember the method Coca_Cola found on downgrading the 3rd gen 8gb devices with the 2nd gen FW? Would this still work for downgrading back to 3.1.3 from iOS 4.0?

Why not give it a try?

I wish I could try it.. But sadly I can't. I have an iPhone 3G, but if anyone with a 3rd gen ipod would like to try it? I was just curious to see if it still works, and help some of the people that upgraded to iOS 4.0 and didn't like it.

I already made a topic on how to do this bro. Except to 3.1.2 currently 3.1.3 is blocked or something.. even with my method. 3.1.2 is not bad tho.

Its not a secret method to downgrade. 8GB 3G devices only accept 2G firmwares, try and restore to a iPod3,1 firmware in iTunes, it wont do it. 8GB 3g iPods don't have to mess with shsh blobs or anything like that, they can downgrade to whatever they want.
