I am selling my iPhone 3G to a friend this week because I am getting an iPhone 4.

I downgraded to 3.1.3 when i had 4.0, but re upgraded when 4.1 came out, as I thought 4.1 would speed up things. But I was wrong.

Now, I want my friend to have the best performance from his new phone so I'm gunna stick on 3.1.3 for him.

I was just wondering how apps run on 3.1.3, if I recall I had no problem with apps not running because it was an old firmware before, do apps still support 3.1.3?

    Many thanks,
    Danny

4.1 itself isnt actually that slow.

The things that slow you down are native wallpaper and multitasking.

Newly released apps are being released for 4.0 and higher, so they wont work on 3.1.3

You can also up your speed and performance by killing unessary launch deamons.

Just go with 3.1.3... it's great (been using it for 3 years).
If your friend wants to upgrade it, he can when he buys it.

How have you been on 3.1.3 for three years?

You are completely wrong here, I have had 4.0/4.1 since release. I even had the GM. I have tested it both with and without multitasking and wallpaper enabled. There is a huge difference between performance on 3.1.3 and 4.0.

I have also killed launch deamons in the past, all to no avail.

The iPhone 3G really isn't designed for 4.0+

It sure isn't. But yeah not many new apps are going to work.

(Poor people with 1st gen devices.)
