I am having a problem downgrading from 4.0 to 3.1.2
    I am following this guide.
I am on step 8. I have the ipsw for my 3g touch firmware 3.1.2 but get the error 3194 after it taking a few mins 'verifying it with apple'
    What has gone wrong?
    Help will be much appreciated

Make sure that your 3.1.2 SHSH are backed up. And if they are, then make sure your host file is changed correctly.

itunes 9.0.1, and delete anything in your hosts file relating to apple.
