iOS 4.0 Downgrading iPod Touch 2G MC 8GB 4.0 to 3.1.2

    Is it possible in any way? Really want to downgrade so I can jailbreak with iH8sn0w's method.

    ok go to google and type down:
    Download 3.1.2 ipsw
    There should be a website with the ipsw called "sendspace.com"
    Click on that and download the firmware.
    After that, put your ipod touch into DFU mode and press shift+restore and look for the firmware.
    Then your done!

    It doesn't work, as it says that the software update server could not be contacted?

    no, it can't. It's Itunes. If anything were to happen during the itunes downgrade process with an official firmware, you could either get it replaced. However, if something goes wrong while using ibooty or someone elses tools not released by apple, you are liable.

    Make sure you're pc is connected to the Internet (idk if you're on another computer or something) and see if iTunes is able to get through the firewall. Maybe try a different computer too.

    You need a previous version of iTunes.

    You shouldn't, I downgraded mine through 9.2

    No, you need to change the host files i believe look in this section for it.
